North Buzz for Class Representatives

Hello, this is Malia Chen, Student Council Communications Director.

Student Council Representatives please read this to your class:

From 5/6/19 to 5/20/19, student council officers new & old, will participate in a two week pilot after school or possibly in the morning at the traffic circle. They will be opening doors, and greeting students. This way students can feel more confident talking to people they don't know very well. Student council officers may sign up for the pilot with this link: https://forms.gle/goUfEJefUuJ5uW316. Next, the lost and found recipient will be the Samaritan House. Student council will be presenting to the kindergarten classrooms about the Recology assembly due to the fact, they forgot about the assembly on 4/29. Thank you Mrs. Sarris for your creation/vison for Spring appreciation! During 5/3/19 to 5/10/19, we will have an appreciation project similar to the Snow Thankful project. Also, we will be having another fundraiser! It will be a bake sale, and there will NOT be pre-sale tickets. There will be gluten free and non-gluten free options available. For the final meeting, we had field relay races which were really fun. We didn't get to the 3rd relay race so we will have a WINNER TAKE ALL final competition, but we are not sure what they will win. Juliet presented at the staff meeting on 5/2/19, with some great data.

This Friday, our Learning Center students will be participating in Super Sports Day run by Special Olympics.  The events include running the 50 & 100 meter dash, jumping, and throwing for distance.

4/25/19 Student Council Meeting Recap

Good Morning North!

At our last student council meeting, Vice President, Juliet S did a wonderful job facilitating.

Here are the bullet points from our meeting on Thursday, April 25th:

Incoming North Parent Group President, Mrs. Breigh McCall gave a presentation and plan for today's Green Assembly with guest presenters from Recology and Choice Lunch. 

Select student council officers will ask 5th grade questions generated from their Green Gallery Walk on 4/8/19.

We welcomed our new student council officers and everyone introduced themselves and their current job description/role.

Student Council passed a motion to create a Tribute to 5th Grade kiosk and 5th graders received a google form to answer one or two questions which could show up on the kiosk.

Juliet gave an update from our Constellation pilot. The committee will meet on Tuesday, 4/30 during lunch to finalize plans for our last constellation pilot session on Wednesday, May 1st at lunch! Thank you again to Mr. Chamblin, Mrs. Marques and Mrs. Kaufman for hosting constellation pilot groups during lunch.

Mrs. Sarris presented a sample bloom for the upcoming staff appreciation plan- more information TBA

Hadley shared student feedback from the computer lab STUDENT survey- over 140 students filled out the survey! Go North! Nice to hear your voice!

Ryan J and his newspaper team of Henry, Caroline F and Jaisimh, launched their first issue of The Weekly Tattler. Thank you Mr. Chamblin for all your help.

The Game Room and Fun Run Training Club continues on Fridays at lunch! It's fun to see the foot charms multiply! Thank you, Coach Flores and Mrs. Dougery for bringing this FUN RUN CLUB to North!
