ART CONTEST!!!! TIME IS RUNNING OUT!
Art Contest
Dear North Stars,
As you all know we are having an art contest. The theme is environment. All art forms are due February 1st and all art projects are due March 8th.
You can have up to 3 people in a group. Art counts as drawings, photographs, 3d printer art, and paintings. We will select 1 winner from each grade.
The yearbook cover art contest is a seperate contest but, you can re-submit your art from this contest to the yearbook cover contest. If you didn't do a drawing for the Art contest, then you cannot re-submit your art because the yearbook cover contest is only drawings.
The prize will be that we will frame your art for you and we will put it up around our school. If you have any questions, you can ask Emme Linthwaite or Lila Rubin. Have fun !
Sincerely,
Emme and Lila

January 22, 2019 Buzz Announcement-Please Read
Hi, this is Malia Chen, Student Council Communications Director.
Student Council Representatives please read this to your class:
Let's start with the update from the treasurers. As of January 17, the balance is $2,271.56. For e will be charging $2 a bag for the popcorn sale, don't forget to bring your money on 1/25. We need a name for the game room so if anyone has an idea, please give it to Ms. Felt. We are creating a form to generate game ideas that will be out soon. If the staff or any students have games that they would like to donate, please do so! Also, the Rainbow Readers book club starts 1/15/19 in Room 13 during lunch. There will be a form to gather and rank fantasy book suggestions soon. If you don't already know, the club is opening up to 3rd and 4th grade students as well. Next up, the Art Contest, entry forms are due 2/1 and projects are due March 8. You can submit your art contest entry in the yearbook cover contest as long as it's aligned with rubric. The yearbook theme is going to be environment also, but art contest winner may not win yearbook cover contest. The entry form is on the homepage of the student council website. We have yet determine how many winners there will be. Student Council is also working on creating constellations, they are groups of all different grades doing different activities a few times a year. They're called constellations because we are the North Stars and it ties with our name because stars make constellations. If each class could complete this form by 2/1/19: Students Involved in Leadership Roles, that would be great! We are also working to create a leadership kiosk, if you would like to be involved contact Riley Martin or myself (Malia Chen). An update for the 5th Grade Legacy Project, the 5th graders voted and North Stars sign with pictures won. The parents have the results, but the project might change. On Blue and Gold Spirit Day we will have the school picture for the yearbook. Everyone wear blue and gold! We also have a few future spirit day suggestions. Ethan Simon and Myra Wasim suggested Shark Day for 2/14/19. We will also vote on having Overall/Denim Day and Caesar/Ranch Day.
Thank you,
Malia Chen
