Hi, this is Malia Chen, Student Council Communications Director. Please read these important announcements to your class:
Let's start with an idea Counselor Miller came up with and our student council unanimously approved! We will create a CIRCLE UP Student Led Problem Solving Panel. A few Student Council officers would give help to solve problems and use our Constitution as a guideline.
Next, we are planning to redesign the Computer Lab into a flexible learning space for committees, clubs, to use as a technology space and more! More information will come later yet we want your input! Here is a link to the Computer Lab Survey we would like each student to complete:
Riley Martin, Hadley Larson and myself (Malia Chen) are going to be starting a Coding Club that will meet in the Computer Lab-more news about that soon.
Now, the North Site Safety Committee meets once a month and we are hoping to have some student voice at these meetings. Please let me know if you'd like to participate in this important committee but please, check with parents first since many of you have FULL schedules and this monthly meeting takes place after school. The next meeting is March 19th at 3:15 pm-4:15 pm.
There will be a very important STEAM poster making party on Tuesday, March 12th from 12:00 to 12:40- ANYONE is welcome! Please bring your lunch. It will be held in Room 13 unless the weather is nice....we will send a location update next week.
For a Constellations update, Juliet presented at the staff meeting yesterday after presenting to the NLT (North Leadership Team) on February 25th. Mrs. Kaufman and Mr. Chamblin offered to help launch the program and Mr. Flores and Mrs. Kennedy offered to give input as well. The Constellation Committee will create a schedule for our teachers to sign up for us to visit your classrooms soon.
As a result of the Battle of the Books on the next two Wednesdays, Constellation Committee will meet during AM recess in the Computer Lab on Wednesdays. Anyone is welcome!
Regarding the Art Contest, student council discussed and approved a decision to extend the due date from today, March 8th to March 22nd.
Thank you,
Malia Chen, Student Council Communication Director
